By providing you with the information below, we hope to start making your kitchen remodeling or home building experience enjoyable before you even walk through our design studio doors. The experience and knowledge of our custom cabinetry designers can help ease any stress and anxiety you might be feeling about one of the most important purchases.
Before We Meet
Here are some suggestions to get your creative juices flowing and help you determine your must-haves:
Create a Pinterest page and boards or a Houzz Ideabook to collect your favorite inspiration photos and ideas. These online services are an easy way to research and gather examples of the styles and products you like and dislike. You can add notes to let us know the design elements that you like. This helps give us a direction for your personal taste & the style of your project. Pictures will ensure that you and your designer are on the same page and create the perfect design while giving you the room you envision.
Get together with your family and ask them for their ideas.
Come up with a realistic budget. Custom kitchen cabinetry design means different things to different people. It's important to know how much you want to invest so that your designer can guide you toward products that will allow you to reach your goals and stay within a budget. This is also a great time saver for both you and your designer.
Envision how you plan on using your new space. Everyone uses their kitchen differently, are you a master chef or the great entertainer?
Our 6-step design process
Step 1: Initial Design Studio Visit
When you make an appointment to visit our design studio and meet with a designer, we will:
Discuss your ideas and review your inspiration pictures so that we more fully understand the vision you have for your space.
Review any architectural plans or other relevant documents.
Answer any questions you may have.
Review your budget or assist you in establishing a realistic budget.
Step 2: In-Home Design Consultation
If after the initial design studio visit if you feel we are a good fit for your project, we will schedule an in-home design consultation. This meeting is an opportunity for you to ask our design team questions and express your expectations in greater detail. At this meeting, our design team will:
Visit your home to further discuss your project, including ideas we have for your space,
Document your existing space by measuring and taking photos, and
Gather the necessary information to create a scope of work & preliminary design concept.
Step 3: Preliminary Review and Budget Meeting
Approximately 2 weeks after your in-home design consultation, we will have a meeting at our design studio to discuss the following:
Preliminary space plan drawings and preliminary material selections based on the information we receive in steps 1 & 2.
Explain the scope of work for your project
Preliminary project pricing & budgets.
Step 4: Design & Selection Phase
Once you decide to move forward with your project, we require a Design Planning Serves Agreement be signed and paid for.
We believe cost transparency is paramount to customer comfort. In light of this, we keep the cost down on our cabinetry by not loading it up with design time that is not necessary. Let's face it some people take longer to come to a final design than others.
Our comprehensive Design Planning Services Agreement entitles you to ownership of all drawings, all documentation, and designs, which covers the following:
Up to nine hours of design services which can be used for;
Revisions to the design
Other selections for your project, tile, plumbing, lighting fixtures, paint colors and including final material selections,
Development of construction drawings
Creation of formal proposal & acceptance
If needed, more design time can be purchased in blocks of 10 hour at very cost-effective rate.
Step 5: Ordering/Purchasing Phase
Once the design and scope of work are finalized and cost agreed to we will present you with a purchasing plan based on lead times of certain products.
During the ordering stage, we will compose a detailed description of the product(s) being ordered. This will include pulling together all specifications and processing of your purchase.
Step 6: Construction & Installation Phase
When work is ready to begin, we will:
Work with the preferred contractor and arrange the removal of existing cabinetry, appliances and perform any demolition, if necessary,
Make arrangements with your builder, architect, or designer to coordinate installation, and
Provide project management services, if necessary, to ensure that everything runs smoothly and on-schedule.

Built to last
Custom cabinets are hand-made by skilled cabinetmakers. They are not produced on an assembly line. Cabinetmakers take pride in their work and use quality materials for a finished product that’s a work of art. Custom cabinets are quality construction that’s built to last.
Higher Quality Craftsmanship
Properly built and installed custom cabinets are proven to last longer than stock/semi custom cabinets, largely due to the way they are made. Stock cabinets are made in bulk on assembly lines while custom cabinets are made for you, one at a time by hand. Intricate joints, dowels or mortise-and-tenons are used to piece together custom cabinets, while stock cabinets are usually slapped together with inexpensive glues and nails. You are going to pay for this level of craftsmanship but it will pay for itself with longer lasting cabinets and increased home value.
Elements you need, none that you don’t
You can choose the elements that work best for you. You don’t have to settle for stock options. You can select unique cabinet and drawer combinations that fit your cooking and baking style and create a more efficient kitchen. For example, your kitchen can incorporate a cutlery cabinet, spice cabinet, cookie sheet cabinet, trash drawer, pullout cutting boards, wine rack, or island cabinetry that opens from both sides.
Personal selection
Stock/Semi Custom cabinets may include “hundreds of combinations,” but you are still limited by product availability. Custom cabinets provide you with a personal customized selection of wood, style, finish, and hardware to address your goals and needs. Stock/Semi Custom cabinetry is made in an assembly line in batches at different times. This often results in non-matching materials and finishes. Custom cabinetry is made per order with hand-selected woods and is completed at one time just for you.
Built to fit
Have an unusual kitchen layout or an unconventional floor plan? Stock/Semi Custom cabinets are designed for standard kitchen sizes. If you have wall left over, you will need fillers in these areas. While fillers have their place, they should be used sparingly as needed. Custom cabinets can be built to any size you specify. This makes all of your spaces usable and allows you to take full advantage of nearly every inch of your kitchen. Custom cabinets give you a fitted, custom look that you won’t find with stock/semi custom cabinetry.
Many kitchens have less cabinetry than they technically have room for. This is because stock/semi custom cabinets are made in certain sizes to fit the ‘average’ kitchen. The thing is, kitchens come in all shapes and sizes meaning almost all will have blank spaces left over where stock cabinets won’t fit. A perk of custom cabinets is that you can order any size you want. Extra tall cabinetry or nifty little cabinets for snug spaces prevent any wasted areas, giving you all of the storage you need and then some.
You may also get creative and add things like a spice cabinet, cutlery cabinet or island cabinetry that helps you store more than stock cabinets would ever allow.
